Unprovoked money grab
Tallahassee trampled home-rule earlier this week with the passage of the property tax amendment. Today, I was renewing my corporation when I was nailed by the Governor again. In years past, this was a $50 fee. This year, not only do we pay the $50, but there is a lovely new supplemental corporate fee that we have to pay to the tune of an extra $88.75. With the new fee, renewing a corporation jumped 178%. Gee, thanks Charlie.

607.193 Supplemental corporate fee.-- (1) In addition to any other taxes imposed by law, an annual supplemental corporate fee of $88.75 is imposed on each business entity that is authorized to transact business in this state and is required to file an annual report with the Department of State.
